Niantic’s partnership with with AT&T and Simon Property Group confirmed to bring real-world events to Wizards Unite!

In a recent announcement on their own blog, Niantic confirmed a partnership with Simon Mall Property and AT&T which had been reported from the Launch Event for Wizards Unite which took place in Los Angeles on June 18th, 2019.

The news, at the time, had gone somewhat unnoticed, but that didn’t stop the reporter within us to dig a bit deeper and forecast that the very first major event in the history of Wizards Unite would take place in Indianapolis (read on here for more details).

In the recent announcement, Omar Tellez, Vice President of Strategic Partnerships at Niantic, confirmed that

Wizards and Witches playing Harry Potter: Wizards Unite will be able to earn additional rewards and encounter more virtual enemies at Inns and Fortresses placed at more than 10,000 AT&T and Cricket Wireless retail stores beginning June 21 and July 15 respectively.

AT&T locations are confirmed to:

  • Give more XP at Fortresses
  • Give more Energy at Inns
  • Host exclusive limited time quests

As for Simon Property Group.

Simon Malls®, Mills®, and Premium Outlets® will feature an amplified Harry Potter: Wizards Unite game play experience in the United States with increased rewards and elusive enemies [in over 200 locations].

These Sponsored locations are confirmed to:

  • Give more XP at Fortresses
  • Give more Energy at Inns

The most interest element of the post remains the confirmation, as we had predicted, that Simon Property Group will host real-world events! While they did not confirm which of their locations would host these events, we strongly believe that Indianapolis will be the selected location for the reasons outlined here.

All of this is extremely good news for people over the United States, which as we learned from a recent report from Sensor Tower, is host to 88% of the players’ spending. It is therefore logical for the first real-world events in the history of Wizards Unite to take place in the US, in a property of Simon Property Group.

Nonetheless, we are very excited to see that Niantic has real-world events planned for the Wizards and Witches out there! How do you all feel about this news?
