Wizards Unite News Roundup: Brilliant Event, Emergency Event, Wizards Unite Fan Festival, and more!

Wizards and Witches across the globe will remember June 27/28 of 2019 as being an insanely active day for Wizards Unite. Not that a lot of things happened in the game, but so many things were announced that the hype over the game exploded out of proportion! Let’s dive in!

Emergency Event – Saturday June 29

The very first worldwide in-game event in the history of Wizards Unite was announced to take place on Saturday June 29.

  • Asia-Pacific Region: 1:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M. AEST (UTC +10)
  • Europe, Middle East, Africa, and India: 10:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. UTC
  • The Americas and Greenland: 11:00 A.M. to 2:00 P.M. PDT (UTC -7)

The event includes:

  • Increased spawns for Traces from the Care of Magical Creatures Family;
  • Double XP from returning Foundables from the Care of Magical Creatures Family;
  • Double XP from returning any Foundables you have already completed from any Family;
  • Increase Spell Energy drops from Inns and Greenhouses

Considering that the event is to last for three hours, it wouldn’t be surprising if it were to adopt the Community Day format that Pokémon GO players are familiar with. i.e. an event that takes place on a monthly basis in order to bring players together and provide new in-game items and bonuses to the users.

Brilliant Event: Fantastic Flora and Fauna – July 3 to July 10

This event had taken place during the Beta phase and returns now that the game is released [almost] worldwide. This will be a great opportunity for players to collect XP, Brilliant variants of regular Foundables, and the infamous Restricted Section Books (required to upgrade or unlock specific Charms).

Wizards Unite Fan Festival – August 31 to September 1 in Indianapolis

Niantic announced that the very first real-world event related to Harry Potter: Wizards Unite would be called the Wizards Unite Fan Festival and that it would take place on Labor Day Weekend in IndianapolisBut we did predict it… More on that here.

When: Labor Day Weekend, August 31 to September 1

Where: White River State Park, Indianapolis, Indiana, USA

How to attend: Selling of tickets has not been announced yet, but will most likely work through the game App (as done with Pokémon GO Fest).

No details were provided as to what players can expect from this event. For all the details we have so far, click here.

Updates and Bug Fixes

To the disappointment of many Professors out there, it was also announced that Deterioration Hex would be nerfed (i.e. weakened), among other general bug fixes.

Deterioration Hex was providing too much damage in relation to its Focus cost during the beta. This caused Professors to be unbalanced compared to the other Professions. We are reducing the amount of damage the Professor’s Deterioration Hex deals to Foes it is placed on during Wizarding Challenges to bring it back in line with its intended power.

Finally, it was also mentioned that a South Korean release would take place soon, without any dates being specified. It remains a great news nonetheless.
