Without further ado, let’s dive in!

1. Save your Scrolls

Starting immediately, start saving your Scrolls and work out the ideale places to use them as you’ll be collecting some very valuable Restricted Books (used mostly to unlock/upgrade Charms) during the Brilliant Event. It is extremely recommended to wait until the end of the Event before using your Restricted Books in order to determine how many you can allow yourself to spend, and therefore using them as wisely as possible.

2. Stock up on Energy/Potions

Reports from the Brilliant Event from the Beta stages indicate that Unicorns are extremely stubborn to be freed from their Confoundables and returned to their Family.

3. Portkeys

During the Event, you will have access to Event-exclusive 7km Brilliant Portkeys. It is highly recommended to hold on to any extra keys you may have on hand in order to use them on these exclusive Portkeys.

It is also suggested to clean/unlock your Portkey inventory before the Brilliant Event begins, and to hold off collecting new Portkeys until you encounter 7km Brilliant Portkeys on the map.

However, some of the Tasks include unlocking Portkeys, so if you do not plan on walking a lot during the Event, it might be wise to hold on a few 2km Portkeys for these particular tasks. Two to three 2km Portkeys will do.

4. Brilliant Foundables

Brilliant variants for Unicorns and Buckbeak can be found in the wild during the Event. Other Brilliant Foundables will be exclusive to Tasks/Assignments’ rewards, Portkeys, or through the use of Brilliant Runestones in Fortresses.

Reports from the Beta version of the Event show that spawn rates were much better than the Emergency Event we experienced on June 29.

The following Brilliant Foundables are introduced during the Event:

  • Brilliant Young Acromantula (through Fortresses with Brilliant Runestones)
  • Brilliant Buckbeak (in the wild)
  • Brilliant Salamander (through Tasks/Assignments)
  • Brilliant Scorched Tree Stump (through Tasks/Assignments)
  • Brilliant Snargaluff (through 7km Portkeys)
  • Brilliant Unicorn (in the wild)

Parting Words

The Brilliant Event will be the second official in-game event for Wizards Unite. Enjoy it as much as possible and make sure to provide us or other creators with your feedback so it can be passes along to Niantic/Warner Bros./ Portkey Games. This will help them adapt upcoming events to the likes and dislikes of players from this Event!

  1. Main issue is the silver key. Maybe I’m spoiled from POGO, but it’s highway robbery for them to be one and done. I have mentioned this to the official twitter page, and I hope others will join me. After this event nary another coin will go to them. It’s extremely poor ROI and I can’t justify throwing money away like that.

    1. But….the keys work exactly like POGO incubators. There’s the one you get forever and ever (equal to the gold key) and the 3 use incubators/superincubators (equal to the silver keys). The difference being you can earn silver keys, but you have to pay for the darned incubators.

  2. Number one tip I would give: once you have the Buckbeak, the Unicorn, and have gotten the Acromantula from using Brilliant runes, DO NOT keep catching the event foundables. The catch rates are way lower than normal and you’ll end up wasting all your spell energy on them.

    1. I disagree. Catching the brilliant traces will yield 2-3 brilliant family ranking points and each 100 ranking points is worth 5 scrolls more than I get for any of the other 10 family ranking completions. For me it is a better value of energy to scroll conversion.

  3. It’s not counting the magizoology creature returns for me, do they have to be from the event or should normal ones count as well?

  4. I didn’t have time to finish all of the tasks. But they shouldn’t have taken them away… you should be able to keep trying to complete them even after the event is over. It would be harder for those brilliant items but everything else, particularly the last section could be completed after the event.
