Wizards Unite: Hints of Exclusive Sponsored Bundles/Tasks found

Note that this article may contain spoilers or information that could be misinterpreted , never implemented, or modified before release. Readers are advised to read with caution.

Almost a month ago, Niantic announced upcoming partnerships with AT&T and Cricket Wireless retail stores. Click here for the full announcement.

Wizards and Witches playing Harry Potter: Wizards Unite will be able to earn additional rewards and encounter more virtual enemies at Inns and Fortresses placed at more than 10,000 AT&T and Cricket Wireless retail stores beginning June 21 and July 15 respectively.

It was also confirmed that Sponsored locations would reward more XP and Spell Energy than regular locations, or the rest of the world for that matter (but we’re not here to discuss the fairness of all this).

Yesterday, a new update started rolling out, and as usual, it appears that some features were hidden inside the code. According to information provided by the famous Zviznemte, the update would contain some very detailed information relating to potential tasks and in-game store bundles from Sponsored locations, more specifically AT&T.

While Tasks are usually not retrievable from Inns, Fortresses, or Greenhouses, it appears that there might eventually be Sponsored Bundles related to Sponsored locations. Below are the various Bundles and related Tasks found by Zviznemte.

Final warning, these may contain spoilers. Furthermore, some of the information could never be implemented in the game, be misinterpreted, or be somewhat different than we is being reported. Read with caution.

We’re not exactly sure why there would be Tasks, especially such low rewarding ones, related to Bundles, but from what Zviznemte has been able to see in the code, it looks as such.

Depending on the prices of these Bundles, they could be extremely interesting. However, if these were to effectively be Sponsored Bundles, it would be a shame for the rest of the Wizarding Community as this would mean that some of the items from them would be exclusive to the US Wizards and Witches, i.e. the items related to the Passport.

Parting Words

From previous experience, it isn’t new that game developers allow bonuses to be provided through Sponsors. However, this particular format where it would allow Exclusive items strictly for a group of people is fairly unusual and generally a bad marketing decision, unless all groups have access to something exclusive on their end. Fairness is an important concept to keep in mind.

What do YOU think? Do you feel it makes sense to see Exclusive Bundles from Sponsors in the US? Are we misinterpreting all this? Share your thoughts below!
