Wizards Unite – A comprehensive guide to grinding XP

With the upcoming Community Day in Wizards Unite, which will introduce a triple XP bonus for the duration of the event, we deemed crucial to discuss the most effective ways to grind XP! For some players, the following tips will seem straightforward, but sometimes, we have to go over little things that seem irrelevant to ensure the best outcome possible.

Needless to say, any of the suggested strategies below require the two followings:

  • Use of Barrufio’s Brain Elixir to ensure a double XP bonus
  • Access to large set of Inns to maintain sufficient Spell Energy

1. The Reliable Friend – Foundables Grind

This method is probably the most effective, the simplest, and the most reliable. It requires you to simply find a location with loads of Traces, and to return all of them to their home. On average, returning a Foundable will reward you 100 XP (200 XP with Barrufio’s Brain Elixir) and it takes approximately 30 second per Foundables to be successfully returned. You should therefore be able to return approximately 60 Foundables. The total of XP gain below only accounts for Low to High Threat Level Foundables, but if you are lucky enough to encounter Severe or Emergency Traces, this total will only grow!

60 Foundables * 200 XP = 12,000 XP

Benefiting from bonuses from an Event, such as Community Day, will only increase your XP gain. Furthermore, one can also benefit from various types of bonuses depending on the quality of the Spell, and the Threat Level of the Trace. Click here for more information. For instance, for Community Day, the calculation would go as follows:

60 Foundables * 300 XP = 18,000 XP

2. The Gamble – Mass Portkey Portmanteaus Opening

Important note for this method
Always make sure that you are returning as many Foundables as possible right after finishing opening your Portkeys to ensure maximum XP benefit gain from your Barrufio’s Brain Elixir.

This method is more of a gamble as you cannot know in advance whether or not you will actually be reward XP or simply Ingredients/Family XP. One can receive 0 XP, but if you’re lucky, you might score up to 6,600 XP (biggest XP gain through Portkey reported, with the use of a Barrufio’s Brain Elixir)!

Considering that the upcoming Community will reward three times the XP, people could be looking at potentially gaining nearly 10,000 XP from a single Portkey!

Regardless of the amount of XP you will be rewarded, it is always extremely beneficial to open several Portkeys at once to ensure maximum gain from your Barrufio’s Brain Elixir.

3. Fortress – Wizarding Challenges

While grinding XP through Fortresses was the most optimal way to secure big amounts of XP before version 2.1.0, it sadly no longer is an interesting option as you are now required to battle on higher Floors of Fortresses to gain decent amounts of XP, i.e. more difficult battles, i.e. more Energy being spent for the same result.

Nonetheless, there comes a point where every Wizards and Witches accumulate so many Runestones from returning Foundables and opening Portkeys, that they must join forces and enter a Fortress for some grudging battles.

That being said, while it is too early for us to provide an idea of how much XP one can expect with the new XP system in Fortresses, one thing is certain, it will not be as effective as options 1 and 2. Therefore, unless you really love Wizarding Challenges too much, we seriously recommend that you use Portkeys and Foundables to grind XP at the time being.
