Wizards Unite – A Comprehensive Professions’ Guide

Greetings Witches and Wizards! Lady Brittany here to give you an in depth look at Professions! This guide will go over each profession, a breakdown of all their final stats, explanation on all skills and some suggestions on what to use your restricted books on! For anyone who doesn’t know the restricted books are the green ones you need for certain skills, so far they have only been available in limited time only events.

To get started here is a wonderful infographic made by OrangeWizard2019 you can find them on Twitter and Instagram. They have a TON of wonderful images for HP:WU! This shows all of the final stats when each skill tree is maxed out.

All Professions have these basic stats below. Here is a brief explanation of each one!

  • Stamina: The amount of Health you have
  • Power: The amount of Damage you deal
  • Protego Power: Determines how much damage your Protego spell blocks
  • Precision: Increases the odds of landing a critical cast
  • Critical Power: Determines the amount of additional damage you do when landing a critical hit
  • Proficiency and Proficiency Power: Determines how strong you are against something
  • Deficiency and Deficiency Power: Determines how much Defense you have against foes that are strong against you
  • Defense: Determines your defense rating with all foes
  • Defense Breach: Lowers your foes’ defense so you inflict more damage.

As you can see every class has some strengths and weaknesses. Aurors are heavy hitters but easily knocked out. Magizoologists are the opposite, they are hard to knock out, but don’t hit very hard. Professors are right in the middle they hit more than the Magizoologist but less than an Auror and are not knocked out as fast as an Auror but faster than the Magizoologist.

Another cool thing about the three different Professions is that they all have different skills to use in battle. For the most part Aurors are all about quickly damaging foes and some debuffing, Magizoologists are all about healing and buffing teammates, Professors do a bit of both; heal/buff teammates and debuff foes.

When choosing which Profession you want to have, think about what you want to be doing in battle.

  • Do you want to hit hard and fast? Then Auror is your way to go!
  • Do you want to help your teammates and heal them while they fight? Then choose Magizoologist!
  • Do you want to do a bit of both? Then Professors is the one for you!

Another great thing is that if you want to you can do all three. You can put a little bit into each one, however this isn’t as recommended because you won’t be able to get as far in all three skill trees as you would in one. The other factor is that a lot of the skills need the restricted books and since those are currently only event only, and we don’t know how often we will have those events, working in one with your books is better. The great thing about this game is you get to decide how you want to play, this guide is just to give you a break down of each class and some tips on all of them!

The biggest question I have seen most people ask about professions is ‘Where do I use my Restricted Books (Green)?’ Each profession will have more than one option when answering this question. To help you, I am going to give you a few options below; one for solo play and one for team play. Eventually, you will get to a point where you have everything unlocked, but with the first couple events there are a few things you definitely want to focus on!

Auror Breakdown

Important notes about Aurors

  1. Strong against Dark forces
    • Dark Wizards & Death Eaters
  2. Weak against Beasts
    • Erklings and Acromantulas (Spiders)
  3. Glass Cannon build
    • Heavy hitters, low health, debuff spells
Skills
  1. Weakening Hex: Impair a foe by lowering the Power
    • This hex lowers how much damage a foe will do up to 60%
    • Costs  1 Focus
  2. Bat-Bogey Hex: Reduce a single foe’s Stamina by a small amount
    • This hex removes a set number of stamina from the foe up to -3
    • Costs 0 Focus
  3. Focus Charm: Transfer Focus from yourself to a Teammate
    • Moves 1 focus from you to any teammate you choose
    • Cost the 1 focus you transfer
  4. Confusion Hex: Impair a foe by lowering their Dodge, Defence, and Defence Breach
    • This will lower all three stats up to 80%
    • Costs 1 Focus

Solo Play

For solo play you want to focus on your Power, Precision, and Critical Power. Weakening Hex then Confusion Hex are both helpful as well! You can either go Weakening Hex first or Confusion Hex, it is honestly just up to your preference and play style here. For solo doing Weakness Hex first will be better while in teams you want Confusion Hex.

Restricted Books
  1. Improved Weakness Hex
  2. Weakness Hex Maxima
  3. Confusion Hex Repetitions
  4. Confusion Hex Mastery
  5. Ferocious Bat-Bogey Hex (I would do this after everything else)

After You unlock your skills you should invest in Playing Dirty and Dancing with Dummies, followed by First Strike. You want to end with The Trick with Death Eaters and Mundungus Among Us. This is the same for both solo and team play!

Team Play

For team play you want to focus on Confusion Hex then Weakening Hex. You want your Power and Stamina to be higher for team fights so focus on those before you work on Precision and Critical Power.

Restricted Books
  1. Weakness Hex Maxima (blocks access to the next Confusion below)
  2. Confusion Hex Repetitions
  3. Confusion Hex Mastery
  4. Improved Weakness Hex

Magizoologist Breakdown

Important notes about Magizoologist

  1. Strong against Beasts
    • Erklings & Acromantulas (Spiders)
  2. Weak against Curiosities
    • Pixies & Werewolves
  3. Healer Build
    • Low hitters, high health, support spells
Skills
  1. Stamina Charm: Restore the Stamina of a Teammate (includes yourself)
    • Restores 30% of teammates health (only 5% less than a health potion)
    • Costs 3 Focus
  2. Mending Charm: Restore a Teammate’s Stamina
    • Restores stamina up to +4
    • Costs 0
  3. The Revive Charm: Revive a knocked-out Teammate and restore a portion of their Stamina
    • Restore up to 100% of Stamina once revived
    • Costs 3
  4. Bravery Charm: Raise your team’s Power against Elite Foes
    • Raise team’s Power by up to 150%
    • Costs 7 Focus

Solo Play

For solo play you really want to focus on getting your damage and stamina up. The skill Becoming the Beast gives you +40 damage when you have 5+ focus. So what you want to do is work towards getting your initial focus higher as well as working your way to Becoming the Beast. Getting this skill will have you dealing 99 damage. This is only 1 less than aurors at max, they do 100 while professors deal 79 at max. Revive can not be used at all alone, so save those scrolls and books for other skills!

Restricted Books
  1. Luna’s Stamina Charm
  2. Becoming the Beast
  3. Stamina Charm Maxima
  4. Amplified Bravery Charm

After the above skills you want to grab Forum Quorum and A Bird in hand. Those will enhance your defence quite a bit. Then end with Spiders!, and Vile Creatures. This should be the same regardless of solo or team play. The difference is focusing more on revive or not.

Team Play

For team play you want to focus on healing and buffing your team. The Revive Charm comes in handy in the harder fortress levels. As well as increasing how much health your Stamina Charm gives. The Bravery Charm becomes very helpful later on as well. Grabbing Becoming the Beast is also helpful for team play so you can contribute to damage when fighting the beasts when they pop up.

Restricted Books
  1. Luna’s Stamina Charm
  2. Becoming the Beast
  3. Stamina Charm Maxima
  4. Amplified Bravery Charm
  5. Improved Revive Charm

After the above skills you want to grab Forum Quorum and A Bird in hand. Those will enhance your defence quite a bit. Then end with Spiders!, and Vile Creatures. This should be the same regardless of solo or team play. The difference is focusing more on revive or not.

Professor Breakdown

Important notes about Professors

  1. Strong against Curiosites
    • Pixies & Werewolves
  2. Weak against Dark Forces
    • Dark Wizards & Death Eaters
  3. Hybrid Build
    • Average health & damage, some support/debuff spells
Skills
  1. Deterioration Hex: Place an Impairment on a Foe
    • Removes up to 40 points of Stamina from a foe every time they attack or defend
    • Costs 3 Focus
  2. Mending Charm: Restore a Teammate’s Stamina
    • Restores stamina up to +4
    • Costs 0
  3. Protection Charm: Enhance a Teammate by increasing their Defence
    • Enhance defence by up to 30%
    • Costs 3 Focus
  4. Proficiency Charm: Raise your team’s Proficiency Power
    • Raise everyone’s Proficiency Power up to 44%
    • Costs 7 Focus

Solo Play

For Solo play you want to focus on your proficiency power and power (damage) done. This will help you take on the Curiosities when they pop up. You can also increase your Crit Chance and Crit Damage. The Deterioration Hex is still wonderful for Solo Play. You will want to invest in Confidence to unlock being able to increase your initial focus from 2 to 4. Most of these will be on the right side of your tree but investing in some stamina on the left is helpful!

Restricted Books
  1. Improved Deterioration Hex
  2. Deterioration Hex Maxima
  3. Confidence
    • Unlocks Divanating Details (+Initial Focus)
  4. The Proficiency Charm
  5. Deterioration Hex Mastery
  6. Enhanced Protection Charm
  7. Perfected Protection Charm
  8. Perfected Proficiency Charm
  9. Advanced Proficiency Charm

After getting the above Skills you can start going through and getting your nodes with the Professor symbol. These will increase various aspects of your spell casting. Pesky Pixies and Full Moon Hunter are the only two that do not require you to be with other people. The rest require you to get 1+ enhancements/impairments, you can give yourself 1 so are able to grab Strength in Numbers and Restricted Section. Both of these are at the top of your tree while the pixies and werewolves are at the very bottom.

Team Play

For team play you want to focus on increasing your Deterioration Hex as well as Proficiency Charm. The Protection Charm is useful later on but does not need to be as much of a priority as the other two. You want to make sure you get Confidence this unlocks being able to increase your initial focus from 2 to 4. You will need this in order to be able to start a Fortress level with something hexed or be able to give out the Proficiency Charm to the team faster.

Restricted Books
  1. Improved Deterioration Hex
  2. Deterioration Hex Maxima
  3. Confidence
    • Unlocks Divanating Details (+Initial Focus)
  4. The Proficiency Charm
  5. Perfected Proficiency Charm
  6. Advanced Proficiency Charm
  7. Enhanced Protection Charm
  8. Perfected Protection Charm
  9. Deterioration Hex Mastery

After getting the above Skills you can start going through and getting your nodes with the Professor symbol. These will increase various aspects of your spell casting. I would work your way from the top and go down. As mentioned above, most of them require you to have +1 enhancement/impairment and if you are playing with a group you can make sure you have those. Working you way from the top down is still a better option as they will be cheaper and get more expensive the farther you are in the tree.

Parting Thoughts

As I went over at the beginning, these are just suggestions to help make your choices a little bit easier. If you have a different way you did something or another suggestion we would love to hear it! I asked in several different communities for each profession to make sure we gave you the best advice from the community as a whole. Feel free to leave a comment below with your thoughts and what you would like us to cover in the future! Let’s keep fighting the Calamity together and be the best Witches and Wizards the SOS Task Force has ever enlisted!
