Last week, an anonymous teaser was dropped by Illumix bringing confusion among the community as to what the famous horror title could be bringing next.
Illumix is an integrated gaming and technology company whose goal is to transform the future of mixed reality with environmentally-intelligent, world-scale AR games. Illumix has raised approximately $10 million to build augmented reality games, from top venture capitalists, including Maveron and Lightspeed. They aim to make more meaningful AR games, not novelties or companion experiences, by focusing on building powerful user experiences that drive their core technology.
Today, Illumix officially announced that they will be bringing the world of Five Nights at Freddy’s to mobile devices in AR soon with Five Nights at Freddy’s AR: Special Delivery (FNaFAR). Pre-registrations will be opened soon (estimated for October 2019) right here.
Augmented Reality offers new ways for players to interact and engage with their favorite franchises by blending real-world environments, fictional characters, and innovative gameplay. With Five Nights at Fredddy’s AR: Special Delivery, we wanted to evolve beyond the traditional AR-optional geolocation gameplay and deliver a more meaningful AR experience by having AR as the core component of the game.Kirin Sinha, CEO and Founder of Illumix
For the time being, little is known about the setting of the game, but based on the success of the original game on PC and consoles, FNaFAR will certainly be a major hit and bring the AR field to a whole new level with the introduction of a fan favorite horror universe.
While there aren’t many successful horror games in AR, we certainly are hopeful that FNaFAR will step up the game for this type of games.
